Climate Change: EU

Established in 2000 to identify environmentally and cost-effective policies and measures that could be taken at the European level to cut GHG emissions. Meant to help ensure compliance under the Kyoto Protocol.

Launched in 2005 in order to look at further cost-effective options for reducing GHG emissions while increasing economic growth and job creation.

Part of the second European Climate Change Programme, the working groups operate in the areas of reviewing the first programme, impacts and adaptation, carbon capture and geological storage, aviation, an integrated approach to reducing carbon dioxide emissions from light-duty vehicles, and reducing GHG emissions from ships.
