Hydraulic Fracturing (Hydrofracking): Indiana

A legal resource guide for information relating to hydrofracking including primary and secondary source materials, quick links, and database resources.

Fracking occurs mostly in the Southern portion of the state. A lot of the fracking occurs within the New Albany Shale formation. Additionally, Indiana claims that less hydraulic fracturing fluid is used to extract oil and gas from Indiana wells than is used on other formations in different states. Indiana does require the disclosure of chemicals used in the fracking fluid that is injected into the wells.
