- Remember that a lot of material is available freely online
- Keep in mind official websites of agencies, universities, courts, states, and other legislative, executive, and judicial organizations
- Learn to evaluate resources found online
- Learn to identify the source of the information
- who is the author
- what are the author's credentials
- determine the level of objectivity
- establish the date of publication
- when was the website last time updated and how often is the website updated
- verify the information found
- remember that some sites, like Wikipedia, can be altered by anyone
